Message "all things equal" in the fuel system such that for any given pulsewidth of injector opening, an exact, repeatable amount of fuel will be delivered.

The effect of this device is mostly pronounced during idle condition where injector pulsewidth is very narrow. The "bouncing ball" plot of intake manifold vacuum at idle actually does cause significant effects in actual fuel delivered per injector pulsewidth given the incredibly small injector pulse at that load (~1ms up - that's one thousandth of a second). The damper is an ingenious means to ensure that the small fluctuations in fuel rail pressure created by the individual intake strokes is minimized. Even still, the larger the injector choice, the greater the need for this device.

Once again, Nissan illustrates their passion for "no holds barred" approach to their engineering with the Z32..... damn.. Imagine what it would have been like to be a part of the Z32 project? :)
